- Tappara secured first regulation win on Game Day 3
- Färjestad's offence delivered their third victory
- Both clubs won their previous fixtures
Both Tappara Tampere and Färjestad Karlstad enter their Game Day 4 fixture having secured wins in their previous contests. The Finns turned on the firepower, putting six past the Rouen Dragons in their 6-1 defeat of the French. Färjestad did not dominate Hungarian side Fehérvár AV19 as some had expected but still managed to claim the game 3-1 to stay perfect on the season.
A late goal by Fehérvár almost spoiled the Swedes' bid for a perfect record when Christopher Brown made it a 2-1 game with less than three minutes to go in the third. But as they have been want to do, Färjestad found the back of the net to seal their third victory.
When it comes to scoring goals, the Swedes are among the most lethal offensive teams in the Champions Hockey League, ranking second in goals for per game with 4.67, while Tappara haven't been their dominant defensive selves, allowing 2.33 goals against per game.
If Färjestad are able to expose the holes in the Finns' defence by generating high volumes of offensive chances, look for them to secure their fourth win in as many games.
After losing 5-1 to Dynamo Pardubice, Tappara regrouped and finally found their stride against Rouen. Despite starting the contest slow, the Finns eventually regained their scoring touch - Oskari Luoto led the way with three points on the night (1G, 2A), while defenceman Arttu Kärki notched two tallies, and Oiva Keskinen had one goal and one assist.
For Tappara, their challenge will be maintain this offensive output. Struggling to find the net has been a hurdle for the club, but if they're able to sustain this type of play from their game in France, they have a chance to make it two wins in a row.
