- Both clubs suffering offensive woes
- Herning's focus should be on deploying stability between the pipes
- Liberec have to find a way to get their top scorers going
Bílí Tygři Liberec fell for the second consecutive time as they were blanked by Red Bull Salzburg 3-0 in their Game Day 2 contest. Herning Blue Fox suffered their second loss, as well, a 7-2 dismantling by SaiPa Lappeenranta.
Herning were outpaced and outplayed from puck drop, giving up two goals in the first period again and allowing their opponents to keep their momentum without interrupting it. This has been the Danes' most critical mistake - always staying on their heels. So far this season, they've given up a combined 12 tucks and currently hold the second-worst GAG with 6.00. If they plan to tick the win column in this tilt with Liberec, Herning will need a better showing from their defense and that starts with more stability between the pipes.
The Czechs have also had a hard time finding their scoring rhythm as they've managed to manufacture only three tallies through two games. Shot totals in their game against Salzburg show that Liberec had their opportunities, as the Czechs were only outshot 24-21; but their inability to convert has led to precious points being left on the table. Moving forward they'll need consistency up front - they've shown they can generate chances, but getting to the rough areas and getting those dirty goals is just as effective as the perfect snipe from inside the slot.
