It'll be the first-ever meeting between these two clubs as Swiss competitors HC Davos get set to host Norwegian side Storhamar Hamar to kick off their 2026/27 campaign. It's been three seasons since we last saw Davos in Champions Hockey League action, as their exemplary play in the NL has earned them their fifth trip to the pan-European CHL stage. Storhamar, however, have now qualified for their third consecutive CHL season after capturing their third title in a row in the GET-ligaen.

Last year, the Norwegians looked better than their previous iteration among Europe's very best, improving from a 2-4 to a 3-5 record. Though their previous two participations haven't gone as planned, Storhamar have shown they're capable of securing wins against very tough competition. In Game Day 2 of the 2025/26 campaign, the Norwegians shocked past CHL Finalists Sparta Prague, winning 4-2. They would go on to beat another capable club in Brynäs IF. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that the squad from eastern Norway can pull off a win against this tough and ready Davos squad.

In their last CHL appearance, Davos qualified for the Round of 16 where they were narrowly defeated by eventual CHL Champions Tappara Tampere by a 3-2 aggregate score. A late short-handed goal by Enzo Corvi brought Davos within one, but they failed to find the equaliser as Tappara's defence was all-consuming. This time around, the club is thrilled to be back, and for General Manager Jan Alston, the most exciting part is facing all the fresh competition: "I really can't wait to meet them all, they all play a different brand of hockey, so it's going to be exciting to discover all their secrets and see how they play."
