An impressive first-period display last week sees Red Bull Salzburg head to Växjö with a one-goal lead over their Swedish opponents.
The joint-SHL-leading Växjö Lakers are on a five-game winning streak in their own league and shut out Rögle Saturday night to stay tied at the top.
“We have to make sure we try to control the puck, we have to be aware of their quick transitions, so if we're not controlling that they'll create 2-on-1s,” said Head Coach Sam Hallam on the Salzburg threat. “Hopefully we can get an early goal to get started well.”
Red Bull Salzburg continued their climb up the EBEL table with a 3-0 road blanking of KAC Klagenfurt on Sunday night. That was their bounce back after going down in Villach two days previous, but including the CHL the team has lost one one of its last seven matches.
“We're 2-1 up but we have to play three good periods in Vaxjo,” said Head Coach Greg Poss. “They're a good team, we saw that last week, so we have to defend well.
