Kometa Brno and Neman Grodno opened their respective schedules against each other in Grodno, with the home team prevailing 4-2. Then on Sunday, Kometa won in Berlin and Neman lost at home to Zug, meaning that both teams are now tied with three points each, with Zug ahead of them and Berlin behind them in the group. Therefore, the winner of this game will find themselves alone in second place (and maybe tied for first), halfway through the group stage.

After showing some improvement in Berlin, where they won 3-2 thanks to three assists from Luboš Horký and 41 saves by Marek Langhamer, the two-time reigning Czech champs want to bring their performance from the second game to their home rink, where they’re difficult to beat.
