- Tychy debut in CHL
- IFK in fifth season but hoping to make more impact
- Hosts looking for country's first ever CHL points
Its a historic occasion for GKS Tychy who play their first ever CHL home game. It could however be more historic if they manage to get at least a point - something no Polish team has done in two seasons of trying.
The hosts have been building up to the game with a large promotion campaign in their town, which has seen players wearing their CHL jerseys in public and even being presented on the pitch at their local football team's home game!
"Finnish teams play really good hockey, and I remember seeing them against Cracovia last season"Andrei Gusow (Head Coach, GKS Tychy)
IFK Helsinki on the other hand will want to do better in this season's competition than last year, where they failed to make the playoffs. They did however beat Polish side Cracovia in both games.
"You can't underestimate any teams in pro hockey these days. Cracovia made us work last season, so we need to prepare thoroughly"Ari-Pekka Selin (Head Coach, IFK Helsinki)
