Red Bull Salzburg’s EBEL form turnaround has seen them propel themselves into the league’s top five, that coming after a poor start which saw them last for a couple of rounds early on. Four straight wins have helped the team there (including a dramatic win over Vienna in its last outing), as has the signing of former NHLer Rob Schremp, who’ll make his CHL debut. Tommy Raffl and John Hughes lead the team in scoring in the EBEL, while Brant Harris is the CHL Top Scorer for Salzburg.
Former Red Bull Konstantin Komarek, now playing in Malmö, told his former team what they need to do: “They’ve go to play disciplined, try not to take any penalties. But if Salzburg put them under pressure they’ll get chances.”
Three wins on the spin have seen the Växjö Lakers move up into second, including a 7-3 demolition of Frölunda last week. Elias Pettersson’s 15 points make him clearly the Lakers’ most productive player in the SHL. He’s joined by Tuomas Kiiskinen, Erik Josefsson and Joel Persson on five CHL points so far.
