- Pilsen beat JYP 4-2 at home on Gameday 2
- Pilsen leads Group H with 6 points, JYP tied for 2nd with 3
- JYP unbeaten on home ice in last year's CHL (4-1-1-0-0)
JYP and Pilsen met each other in the Czech Republic on Gameday 2, both having won their openers. Pilsen outscored their guests 2-1 in each of the first two periods, then played solid defence to win 4-2 and take over top spot in Group H with 6 points. However, with a win on home ice in the return meeting, JYP can pull back even.
This is JYP’s first home game of this year’s CHL, but they were not beaten at home in last season’s competition – four regulation wins, one shootout win and a tie – en route to the title. It may be noteworthy, though, that the team that tied them in Jyväskylä was Czech club Kometa Brno.
In Dmitri Milchakov’s competitive debut for Pilsen, the Belarusian goalie stopped 23 of 25 JYP shots (92%). Offensively, Pilsen’s load has been carried by Vojtěch Němec, David Stach and Václav Nedorost with 3 points each. JYP’s LGT Top Scorer is Czech David Tomášek, despite the fact that he was ejected from the game in Pilsen for arguing with officials, but is eligible to play in this game.
