The all-Finnish matchup sees two teams in very different form domestically clash on the European stage. Tappara took a 5-4 overtime win when the teams played on Friday in the league.
JYP Jyväskylä halted a five-game losing streak by winning in Turku over the weekend, but after their excellent start, it was only their second win in 10 games including the CHL loss in Grodno. Juuso Puustinen leads the team in the Liiga with 19 points in 20 games, while in the CHL Juuso Puustinen is the team’s joint-top scorer with four points in five.
Tappara, on the other hand, have turned around some poor early form to now sit third overall thanks to six wins in a row. The team hasn’t lost in regulation in the league since 30 September, stretching 10 games. CHL Top Scorer Kristian Kuusela (3+3) has 14 points in the league, Jukka Peltola leads the team with just one more.
While Tappara won the most recent meeting between the teams, JYP were victorious in Tampere 4-3 back in September.
