- Zurich defeated Frölunda 3-2 in a shootout at home on Gameday 2
- Both teams have 4 points after 2 games
- The winner of this game will be the group leader at the midpoint of the Group Stage
It’s always a great game when these two teams get together. In three meetings over the past two seasons, all have been decided by one goal and two of them in extra time. In their most recent meeting last Saturday in Zurich, the game was tied 2-2 through 65 minutes of hockey, and then in the seventh round of the penalty shootout, former Frölunda player Fredrik Pettersson scored the winning goal for the ZSC Lions.
Interestingly, his shootout goal was the first point of the tournament this season for Pettersson, who was the CHL's LGT Top Scorer last season with 16 points. Through the first two games, Zurich's top scorers are Jérôme Bachofner and Roman Červenka with two points each. Having scored a goal, Bachofner will wear the Top Scorer's jersey. For Frölunda, that honour goes to Ryan Lasch, who was the CHL's top scorer in 2015/16.
The two teams are currently tied for top spot in the group with five points each, so the winner of this game will be the leader halfway through the group stage.
