IFK Helsinki’s disappointing CHL run came to an end with a 6-3 home win over Comarch Cracovia, who are still looking for their first CHL points after two years in the competition.
Jarkko Malinen had IFK ahead at 9:30, however, the Poles were back in the game just shy of the 12-minute mark – Damian Kapica on the power play. The middle period saw IFK begin to run away with the game, as three goals in just over a minute effectively killed off Cracovia – Henri Tamminen, Thomas Nykopp, and Niklas Nordgren getting on the board – the latter 17-year-old with his fourth goal of the CHL in two games. Mateusz Rompkowski pulled one back for Cracovia with 17 seconds left in the period.
Vili Sopanen made it 5-2 with 45:11 played, before Juha-Pekka Haataja made it 6-2 at 54 minutes. Petr Kalus got the last goal of the game for Cracovia with 1:45 left on the clock to make the final score 6-3.
