Robert Rosen’s overtime goal gave the Växjö Lakers a 4-3 win over Bílí Tygři in Liberec to open Group E. It was a back-and-forth game that included two lead changes before an impressive crowd of 4,236.
Växjö's Erik Josefsson scored the lone goal of the first period on a power play when he converted a rebound, but that was the only power-play goal the Lakers would score on eight attempts, while the White Tigers were 0-for-5. They led 2-0 early in the second period, but then Liberec responded with three goals in a span of 3:24 to lead after 40 minutes. Elias Pettersson’s goal with 9:32 left in regulation time tied it, and then Liberec goalie Roman Will made a couple of huge saves in the last couple minutes to get the game to overtime.
"We started really well but unfortunately only scored one goal, and then they showed how strong a team they are. The turning point was probably when we killed off that one minute 5-on-3."Erik Josefsson (Växjö Lakers)
