JYP held on to a two-goal lead from their home game to eliminate Tappara in the last round, and currently see themselves two points into the top automatic quarterfinal places in their own league. Having lost their last two games, however, and three of the last four, they’ll be keen for a change in fortunes in European competition. Notably, JYP have conceded 10 goals in their last two games combined, scoring only two in reply, and haven’t won at home since the middle of last month. In the CHL, however, they’ve yet to lose on home ice.
Kometa make their third CHL trip to the Nordics this season, having previously faced Stavanger and Malmö. They’re another team with two straight losses in their own league and have been on a horrendous run of only one win in their last eight. Bar one of those games, though, each loss has only been by a single goal. The Moravian side has only lost one road game in the CHL this season, that being to the Redhawks when qualification had already been secured.
Both teams have similar special team percentages so far in the CHL, although Kometa average slightly more goals per game (3.4 vs. 3.0).
