At the top of the first period, the Belfast Giants wasted no time as they took some stellar shots against their opponents, HC Davos.
Despite Belfast's initial pressure, Michael Fora got the first one in the net, with the assist by Enzo Corvi, for Davos at 6:53.
The first powerplay of the match also went to Davos, as they looked to enhance their 1:0 standing, but no such luck.
A slashing penalty against Raphael Prassl gave Belfast the chance they needed to close the gap before the end of the first, but they had trouble getting one on the board.
Davos got their next chance to rack in another goal with Magnus Nygren slamming one home and giving Davos a 2:0 lead.
Just seconds after falling behind, Belfast landed their first goal of the 2022/23 CHL season at the hands of David Gilbert and Mark Cooper with the assist. Belfast did manage a second powerplay shortly after, but couldn't secure the equalizer.
The second period started with Belfast’s Ben Lake taking a beautiful shot fresh off the face-off, bringing the home team on par with Davos.
But a quick hammer shot from Matej Stransky powered one in and reclaimed the lead for Davos.
An absolute ripper came from Belfast's Scott Conway, making it a 3:3 fight. Michael Fora was called for hooking, giving Belfast their third powerplay and with the momentum high, it looked as though Belfast would take the lead.
Things heated up as both teams were itching to get ahead, with players and punches flying, resulting it the first roughing penalty being called on Matej Stransky.
With Stransky back in the game, he set up a swift shot and scored, taking the lead to 4:3 for Davos. A second powerplay goal executed by Valentin Nussbaumer and Dominik Egli ended the momentous second period with a 5:3 lead for Davos.
Entering the final period, both teams faced penalties, yet neither were successful in capitalizing on their power plays. At 55:19, Leon Bristedt brought Davos a comfortable three point lead with just over four minutes left to play.
The final horn sounded as Davos became 2/2 in the 2022/23 CHL season thanks to their 6:3 win over Belfast.
