- Frölunda put 10 past Grenoble, including 5 in the first
- Grenoble still searching for their first points of the season
- Patrik Carlsson had 1 goal and 3 assists on the night
Frölunda Gothenburg authored another dominating effort as the Swedish side thumped Grenoble to a 10-2 final and earned their place in the Playoffs.
It was all Frölunda in the opening frame as the French didn't have an answer for the Swedes' offensive onslaught. Filip Johansson kicked off the scoring four minutes in with a snap shot from the slot that beat Jakub Štěpánek clean under the blocker.
Three minutes later, Ryan Lasch continued enshrining his name in the CHL scoring lists after potting his fourth of the season off a sweet dish from Patrik Carlsson who notched his second assist on the night.
Past the midway mark of the first, Frölunda would score two in quick succession. Carlsson was, again, the set-up man, this time for Jere Innala who bunted it home at 13:36, then Jacob Nilsson made it 4-0 17 seconds later. Radan Lenc capped off this first period frenzy when he buried his third of the season on the powerplay.
Play picked up in the second with the visitors continuing where they left off, scoring goals #6 and #7 with less than two minutes gone. Innala netted his second of the game while Filip Hasa found twine for his first of the season.
Following these two early goals, however, Grenoble showcased a much improved effort in the second and even managed to break through against Frederik Dichow with a Nicolas Deschamps marker at 38:42 to make it 7-1.
Eight minutes into the third, the Swedish side would increase the goal-gap to seven when Pontus Johansson found himself wide open and made a brilliant move in close to put it past Štěpánek.
Despite being down by seven goals, the French didn't let up and scored their second with a little over five minutes to go in regulation. Kyle Hardy lasered his first past Dichow to make it 8-2.
But then it was Mats Rosseli-Olsen who gave the Swedes their seven-goal cushion back followed by Patrik Carlsson's tally, and fourth point on the night, that made it 10-2 as Frölunda dictated the pace of the match from start to finish.
