- Sami Vatanen: 2 assists, 4 shots, 29:22 TOI for Genève
- Milan Klouček: stopped 31/34 for Pardubice
- Genève qualify for Playoffs
Daniel Winnik scored on a breakaway just 15 seconds into overtime to give Genève-Servette a thrilling 3-2 victory over Dynamo Pardubice. In a match-up of two teams that entered the game dead-even with nine points each, the teams split the points 2-1, meaning that Genève have now clinched a Playoff berth and Pardubice's magic number is one.
The two teams began the game at a frenetic pace and there were chances at both ends, although no goals were scored in the opening period.
Genève opened the scoring on their fourth powerplay just shy of the game’s midpoint. Milan Klouček stopped the initial shot from Sami Vatanen but couldn’t find the rebound before Henrik Haapala, who put it in.
After one goal in the first 40 minutes, there was a sudden flurry in the first half of the third period that saw Pardubice take the lead before Genève equalized.
Early on, Matej Paulovič won a battle for the puck behind the net and fed Robert Říčka, whose shot from a sharp angle somehow found its way under Gauthier Descloux. Less than three minutes later, Pardubice took the lead off the rush when Robert Kousal’s shot found space between Descloux’s arm and body.
Momentum seemed to be on Pardubice’s side but veteran Valtteri Filppula picked off an errant pass in the attacking zone and Theodor Lennström made no mistake from the top of the circle.
Genève had a great opportunity to regain the lead on a late powerplay and had some chances, then stepping out of the penalty box, Pardubice’s Peter Čerešňák took a breakaway pass and tried to deke Descloux but was denied.
