- Kodýtek: 2 goals for Pilsen
- Török & Ďatelinka: goals for Banská Bystrica
- Pilsen win all 6 Group Stage games, taking 17 of 18 possible points
Although they had already secured top spot in Group H, HC Pilsen were aiming to become the only team to finish the Group Stage with a perfect record and they struck first after nine minutes on a two-man breakaway, with Samuel Baroš having no chance as Petr Kodýtek converted a pass from Lukáš Pulpán.
Tomáš Török tied it for HC05 Banská Bystrica in the 29th minute by going upstairs short-side on Dmitri Milchakov after a nifty drop pass from Brock Higgs, but Pilsen regained the lead less than a minute later when Petr Eret made a nice move to finish off a 2-on-1 with David Kvasnička.
Even with not much at stake, games between Slovak and Czech teams are always intense and tempers flared as the second period became increasingly physical, culminating in a fight late in the frame that saw Eric Selleck and Jakub Kindl both ejected.
Banská Bystrica ended up with a powerplay due to an extra minor to Kindl, though, and they put on some pressure late in the period. First, Guillaume Asselin hit the goalpost and then, with one second left on the clock, Ján Sýkora’s shot went in off the leg of captain Ivan Ďatelinka, who was jockeying for position in front of the net. Despite the immediate protest of Milchakov that the puck was kicked, it was ruled a good goal upon video replay, tying the game at 2 after 40 minutes.
After a scoreless third period, Banská Bystrica took a bench penalty for too many players on the ice in overtime, and Pilsen made them pay with the 4-on-3 advantage, with Kodýtek scoring his second of the game to earn his team its sixth win – although for the first time, not in regulation time.
