Eisbären Berlin finally have something to show for their efforts in this tournament after they denied Neman Grodno the opportunity of qualifying. Chances were few and far between in the first period of this game; however, Berlin opened the scoring when Brendan Ranford capitalised on some unconvincing net-minding at 14:48. Neman knew that they required no less than a win tonight, which showed when they responded two minutes later after an off-balanced Anton Yeliseyenko regained his composure before firing a shot beyond Maximilian Franzreb.

A glorious opportunity in the second period went astray for the visitors, who found themselves chasing a lead again after a blue line shot from James Sheppard trickled into the back of the net. The home side put their third goal away only a minute later at 32:08 courtesy of Marcel Noebels, who finished off a great passing move to create some long overdue breathing room for his side. A trademark tip in front of the goal by Colin Smith put the game to bed in the third period to turn the Grodno fans’ nightmares into a reality.
