Samuel Fagemo scored on the penalty shot in OT to lift his team to a 2-1 win over KooKoo Kouvola at the Frölundaborg. Both teams played a sound defensive game, capped off by terrific netminding, but a late error proved costly for the Finns as Fagemo took advantage.

The 26-year-old opened the scoring for the hosts three minutes into the contest when he wired home a one-timer from the far dot to give his club the 1-0 advantage. Henrik Tömmernes found Fagemo all alone inside the far circle and dished it clean to the forward who made no mistake.

The teams continued going back-and-forth in the middle stanza, and while the Swedes had their chances, it was Kouvola registering the equaliser when a snapshot from Miska Siikonen slid its way through traffic in front and past an unsuspecting Lars Johansson.

The hosts continued to put on the pressure in the final frame, but Kouvola's Niclas Westerholm continued to be stellar, denying several quality chances, including a couple of 2-on-1 opportunities, from the Swedes to keep the game level. And with both sides still tied after 60 minutes, the game turned to OT.

A minute and a half in, Fagemo was awarded a penalty shot. The skater took his time, gliding down the far wall before placing the puck on his forehand and rifling it past Westerholm's glove to propel his team past the Finns and earn the extra point.
