Fribourg-Gottéron scored three times in the third to overtake Graz99ers 4-2 and check the win column for the first time in this instalment of the Champions Hockey League.

Lucas Hedlund got things going for Fribourg early when he shoveled home a loose puck at the top of the crease four minutes into the opening frame. Jacob de la Rose sent the puck towards the front of the net where it ricocheted off Nicolas Wieser's pads and found the stick of Hedlund, who slid it in to give his team the edge.

Then in the dying seconds of the first, it was Christopher Collins netting the equaliser for Graz99ers when he cleaned up the loose change down low. Ludovic Waeber was unable to control the initial shot, leading to a battle in the crease where Collins eventually found the puck and deposited it into the cage.

Second-period play went by relatively unmarked as neither side was able to create much momentum. After 40 minutes, both teams remained knotted at 1 apiece with the Austrians holding the advantage in shots 21-15.

Fribourg almost found themselves ahead in the third when a breakaway chance nearly resulted in a goal, but after review it was determined the puck had not fully crossed the red line.

The Swiss finally broke the deadlock at 53:42 of the third thanks to Yannick Rathgeb's first of the season and then moments later, added to their lead when Anthony Richard collected the puck, dusted it off and sent it past the stick of Wieser to improve his club's lead to 3-1.

Things got interesting when a high shot from the point was redirected past Waeber to give Graz99ers some life in the dying minutes of the game. Marcus Vela was credited with the powerplay tally as the Austrians found themselves fighting for the equaliser, but Richard's second of the night dashed any hopes for the home team as Fribourg skated away with the win.
