Rasmus Asplund netted the game-winner on the powerplay in OT as HC Davos overcame Storhamar Hamar 3-2 to earn their first points of the 2026/27 Champions Hockey League season. 

The teams skated to their respective locker rooms even after the first twenty with the Swiss breaking through twice and the Norwegians netting two of their own. 

Austin Cangelosi made it 1-0 in favour of Storhamar four minutes into the contest when he tipped in a nice feed from Jacob Berglund from just above the blue paint. 

Davos responded seconds later when former Detroit Red Wing Filip Zadina busted in on a breakaway and backhanded it above the glove of Theo Rooseboom de Vries. The Swiss then took the lead two minutes later when Zadina manufactured his second tuck of the night - this time placing one far post.

Joe Gatenby found the equaliser for the Norwegians a little past the 11-minute mark of the period when his shot from along the near boards somehow found its way into the back of the net.   

Neither side moved the needle in the second with both netminders keeping things knotted at 2 apiece after 40 minutes. 

With both sides still tied after 60 minutes, the extra session followed. Davos eventually found themselves on the powerplay when the Norwegians were called for too many men, where some crisp back-and-forth passing resulted in Asplund sweeping it into the back of the cage to lift his squad over Storhamar.
