- Rasmus Reijola: 21 shot shutout
- Miska Ronkainen and Henri Kanninen scored for HPK
- Rungsted remain without a point after 5 games
There was nothing but pride left to play for in Group B, as HPK Hämeenlinna hosted Rungsted Seier Capital on Game Day 5. The Danish side, still looking for their first points in their debut CHL season faced a tough test against the defending Finnish Champions. The home side outshot their Danish opponents 8-4 in the first period, and eventually took the lead thanks to Miska Ronkainen goal. The 20-year-old forward broke in with speed down the left wing and wired a laser wristshot top corner on Thomas Lillie in the Rungsted net.
Rungsted came back into the game in the second period and managed to get a number of shots on Rasmus Reijola in the HPK net. However, all their momentum was undone after Mario Lucia took a hooking call and the hosts made no mistake on their second powerplay of the net. Henri Kanninen firing home to send HPK into the period break with a 2-0 advantage.
The third period saw both teams go back and forth, but no more goals were forthcoming. With that win, HPK guarantee third place in Group B, whilst Rungsted are left to lick their wounds and try again on GD6.
