- Lahti scored five powerplay goals, averaged over three goals per period
- Rouen's Milan Kytnár scored the lone goal for the French side
- Wyatt Kalynuk collected 5 points (1G, 4A)
Isku Arena was the battlefield for Finnish guns Lahti Pelicans who secured their third consecutive win, this time against the Rouen Dragons on Game Day 6 of the Champions Hockey League. The 10-1 hammering included five powerplay goals. The Pelicans' netminder Jasper Lattu had a strong first game between the pipes, making a total of 15 saves and giving up a single goal.
Rouen netminder Oskari Setänen faced a tough start suffering three goals in the opening period. It unravelled with a holding penalty by Alexander Lindelöf, giving the hosts their first two minutes of man-advantage time.
Just over a minute into the powerplay, blueliner Wyatt Kalynuk made it 1-0 for his side, letting the puck rip from the top of the circles, following a pass from Ryan Lasch.
A second holding penalty, this time on Enzo Cantagallo, proved fatal for the French side. Kalynuk split his stick in half on his attempt to launch a shot on net, but the puck reached Jonas Enlund who made his own attempt before Antti Tyrväinen finally buried the puck on the doorstep of Setänen to extend the lead 2-0.
Lattu got his chance to shine after Tyrväinen was binned for slashing. Unfortunately for Rouen, things went from bad to worse on expiry of the penalty, which saw Tyrväinen collect a pass behind the yellow jerseys of Rouen's defence. His initial attempt was saved, but rebounded up to the blueline where Michael Vukojevic would collect the puck, feed it back to Tyrväinen, before collecting it for a second time to make it 3-0.
Lahti continued their onslaught in the second period. Lasch picked up his first goal of the evening, another powerplay goal, to extend the lead 4-0 for the hosts. Swedish forward Tim Lindfors added to the tally with a superb shot high over the glove of Setänen making it 5-0 and Jonas Enlund would best the blocker side to light the lamp a sixth time.
Rouen's Gaëtan Richard subbed in at 30:57 and was able to hold off the Finns who remained scoreless for the remaining minutes. The period ended 6-0 in favour of the hosts, who outshot their French rivals 27 to 10.
Heading into the third period, Lahti's top scorer Luboš Horký picked up his first goal of the night, and powerplay goal number four, to make it 7-0. At 42:41, powerplay goal number five followed courtesy of Lars Bryggman, and Horký would strike again (this time on even-strength) at 43:57, furthering the runaway lead to 9-0.
Rouen's Milan Kytnár got his team on the scoreboard at 48:27, following up on an initial shot from Tomas Simonsen. Lahti would respond at 52:20 with goal number ten from forward Miika Roine, and with five minutes remaining, and no chance of a comeback in sight, the Finns would close the game 10-1.
