- Leksand outshoot Fribourg 17-4 in the first period
- Fribourg-Gottéron netted three goals in the second
- Netminder Connor Huges flawless over final two periods
Hosts Leksands IF came out of the gate flying, dominating most of the play, and outshooting Swiss side Fribourg-Gottéron 17-4 in the first period. The Swedes opened up the scoring after a netfront scramble saw American forward Carter Camper jam the puck past Fribourg netminder Connor Hughes, while Fribourg's offensive attempts were few, and mostly kept to the perimeter.
Leksand made it 2-0 thanks to a point shot from defenceman Carl Själin, which was redirected off the skate of a Fribourg player. Leksand had a chance to extend their lead after defenceman Dave Sutter took a minor penalty for tripping, but they couldn't convert before the buzzer sounded.
It was an outstanding second period for Fribourg, which kicked off after Max Veronneau of Leksand took a penalty early into the second stanza, giving the visitors a vital man advantage. Fribourg converted almost instantly, and cut the lead in half 2-1, with Christopher DiDomenico doing the damage. Fribourg equalised at 30:48 thanks to a shot wired by David Desharnais beating Leksand netminder Kasimir Kaskisuo. Less than a minute later the Swiss visitors took the lead 3-2, courtesy of a shot from the point which was tipped by forward Nathan Marchon.
Both sides traded opportunities in the third period, but it took until 56:55 for the puck to hit the back of the net again. This time thanks to top forward Killian Mottet, who dropped the puck back to Ryan Gunderson, who blasted the puck past Kaskisuo, further extending Fribourg's lead. With their goalie now pulled, Leksand made a last push to reclaim the game, but an errant cleared puck by foward Samuel Walser ended up in the empty net of the hosts, sealing a 5-2 win for the Swiss side.
