A ten-round shootout culminated in Radan Lenc ending in on the backhand to lift his club to their first victory of the 2026/27 Champions Hockey League season as Bílí Tygři Liberec overcame Herning Blue Fox 2-1.

Neither side made much noise through the first 20 minutes as they headed to the locker room still tied at 0-0. The Czechs were the beneficiaries of several opportunities, outshooting Herning 15-7, but solid netminding from the Danes was the difference maker.

42 seconds into the second, it was Jakub Rychlovský breaking the tie with a smooth tuck, far side, right under the pads to get his side on the board. The forward stayed with the play along the far wall, eventually scooping up the loose puck before barreling down the far side and letting go, beating Jānis Fecers clean.

The score remained the same in the second with Herning occupying more O-zone time, but unable to solve Petr Hamalčík. Meanwhile the Czechs generated some opportunities of their own, but failed to make much of them.

In the third, it was Liberec with the lion's share of the chances - boosted by a powerplay opportunity late in the period - but the Latvian netminder did an excellent job denying every opportunity to keep his club in the game. 

Their inability to convert on their chances would come back to haunt the Czechs as late in the period, a Martin Faško-Rudáš' penalty gifted the Danish side an opportunity to level the scoring and that's exactly what Mathias Bau Hansen did when he wired one from the near circle past Hamalčík to force OT.

But no score in the extra session meant that things would have to be decided in a shootout. Then in the tenth round, Lenc ochestrated the game-winning shootout goal when he lifted it over the pads on the backhand to secure his club's first win of the season.
