- Stefanovich: 3rd goal of the tournament for Minsk
- Björkstrand: goal for TPS
- Minsk get their second win
After all the drama in the top half of Group B yesterday, there was still business that needed tending to in the other half. Yunost Minsk drew the first blood in the game with a less than attractive goal that they’ll take nonetheless. Kirill Brikun turned up late to a melee of stick clashing in front of the net to place his shot home perfectly at 5:20. His brother, Minsk netminder Igor Brikun, remained largely untested throughout as both sides struggled to generate any clear-cut chances.
It was going to take something out of the ordinary to bring this game to life, which is where a video review in the third period comes in. A lengthy break concluded with the decision to give a goal to Patrik Björkstrand at 50:56, which the Minsk fans will protest that he kicked in. After failing to convert a late powerplay opportunity of their own, TPS Turku fell victim to giving away a penalty of their own. A slapshot attempt eventually bobbled to Mikhail Stefanovich, who buried his effort into the top bins of the oppositions goal with only 20 seconds remaining on the clock.
