- Five goals in 11:55 span in 1st period
- Johan Sundström: game-winning goal early in 3rd
- Rudolf Červený: 2 assists for Mountfield
After dropping their first two games at home, the Frölunda Indians are now looking like themselves after taking the maximum six points in two road games this weekend, following a 4-3 win over Mountfield HK. Mountfield never quit in the game, though, three times closing the gap after falling down by two goals.
The first period was wild with five goals scored. Frölunda took a 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes through Max Friberg and Ryan Lasch, and it looked like it might be the kind of game where they can really embarrass you. However, Mislav Rosandić got the home team on the board midway through the first period, then Julius Bergman put Frölunda back up by two, and finally Radovan Pavlík on a brilliant individual effort brought Mountfield close again for the fifth goal in less than 12 minutes of play.
After that jittery start, both teams calmed down and played a pretty conservative game the rest of the way.
Early in the third period, Johan Sundström once again gave Frölunda a two-goal cushion when he put in a rebound. But once again, Mountfield got it back. On the power play and with goalie Marek Mazanec pulled for a sixth attacker to boot, Radek Smoleňák took a cross-ice pass from Rudolf Červený and put it in the open side to make it 4-3 with 1:36 to go. As was the story all game, though, they couldn’t get the equalizer, despite a late push.
