- Stach & Kratěna: each 1+1 for Pilsen
- Kolehmainen & Tomášek: each 1 goal for JYP
- Milchakov stops 92% of shots on Pilsen debut
With back-to-back regulation wins on home ice, HC Pilsen take to the road in good shape in Group D. Their 4-2 win over defending champions JYP Jyväskylä included two bursts of three quick goals – one in early in the first period and one just past the game’s midpoint – with Pilsen outscoring JYP 2-1 each time.
JYP got an early powerplay chance and Janne Kolehmainen capitalized, sliding the puck just inside the post before Dmitri Milchakov could slide across, but Pilsen responded with two quick goals on nice offensive drives finished by Miroslav Indrák and Ondřej Kratěna before the game was five minutes old.
David Stach made it 3-1 on a Pilsen two-man advantage in the 32nd minute, but then the teams quickly traded even-strength markers to make it 4-2. Then four straight JYP penalties kept them from generating any sustained offensive pressure until the game’s late going.
