- Klagenfurt outshot Rouen 61-43
The Rouen Dragons welcomed their old enemies KAC Klagenfurt into their den in northern France for the start of their 2024/25 CHL campaign. With both teams giving their best, it was an exciting game without a doubt.
The first period favoured the visitors, with Klagenfurt striking early. Just three minutes into the game, forward Matthew Fraser scored off a beautiful pass from captain Thomas Hundertpfund to open the scoring.
Hundertpfund was involved again shortly after, leading a counter-attack following a near miss in front of his own net. Although his initial shot was saved, Nicholas Peterson buried the rebound to give Klagenfurt a 2-0 lead.
Klagenfurt looked to extend their lead in the second period, and Senna Peeters did just that at 26:01, capitalising on a powerplay opportunity after Rouen’s Daniel Glad racked up a penalty for hooking. This triggered a goal frenzy, as Rouen quickly answered to narrow the lead to 3-1, only for Klagenfurt to restore their three-goal cushion just ten seconds later, making it 4-1.
The final period saw Rouen's Tomas Simonsen score a lone goal, but it wasn’t enough to make a comeback. As the final buzzer sounded, Klagenfurt celebrated their first victory of the season, securing a 4-2 win and three points for the Regular Season Standings.
