- First ever CHL win for Rungsted
- HPK end debut campaign in third
- Both teams eliminated
On a busy night in a game between two teams that could go no further in the Champions Hockey League this season, Rungsted Seier Capital created a bit of Danish history at home to HPK Hämeenlinna – giving the country their first CHL win at home since September 2016.
Goals from Rasmus Andersson at 17:05 and Mario Lucia at 25:52, either side of a Markus Nenonen equaliser nine seconds into period two, put the hosts into a slender lead. TJ Moore extended that to three goals just past the halfway point of the game, which would turn out to be the last goal of both these team's CHL seasons.
The win was the first for a Danish side in Denmark since Esbjerg beat IFK Helsinki 5-4 in overtime on 9 September 2016. Aalborg Pirates won in Vienna last season.
