- Klagenfurt take all three points in Rungsted
- Three wins for Klagenfurt but a first in regulation
- Rungsted lose their first home CHL game of the season
Goals were hard to come by in the first meeting between Rungsted Seier Capital and KAC Klagenfurt, and it seemed to be more of the same in the second meeting. Neither side could get one early, but eventually it was the visitors Klagenfurt who would get on the board.
Rok Tičar opened the scoring just after the midway point of the opening period, after Manuel Ganahl won a battle in the corner, before making a diving effort to put the puck right in Tičar’s wheelhouse, and he made no mistake burying the opportunity to open the scoring.
The lead was doubled early in the second, Steven Strong showed some great skill to try and dance his way past three Rungsted players, but as he lost control of the puck it didn’t matter as it fell right to Stefan Geier who made it a 2-0 game.
Rungsted got on the board after some great puck movement saw the puck end up on the stick of Morten Jensen, and as he put a low shot towards Sebastian Dahm, but Marcus Olsson stopped it before it even reached the net, turning and putting it past the sprawling goaltender to make it 2-1 heading into the final period.
It was looking like it was heading for another tight finish, and Rungsted had an opportunity to tie the game with a powerplay just after the midway mark, but a turnover in the defensive zone saw Klagenfurt spring into action, with Daniel Obersteiner finishing after a nice pass by Thomas Koch to make it 3-1 with a shorthanded effort.
The icing on cake came a few minutes later, Klagenfurt were the team on the powerplay this time, a four minute powerplay after a double minor against Morten Jensen, and they managed to grab their fourth in the first two minutes of the penalty. Manuel Geier was found wide open at the back door and had a wide open net to fire the fourth goal into, sealing victory for Klagenfurt, with the fifth coming into an empty net through Johannes Bischofberger.
