- Muršak: 2 goals for Bern
- Växjö on 3 points after as many games
- Bern still undefeated
SC Bern followed up their win in Växjö by defeating the Lakers on home ice.
The home side took the first period in this encounter thanks to a tap-in goal for Simon Moser, who was in the right place at the right time to put his team ahead. Another period and another rebound goal for Bern courtesy of the opposing netminder Fasth, who spilled a shot conveniently into the path of Simon Haas. By this point, Växjö were on the ropes and had lost a man after first-line forward Austin Ortega was given a major penalty plus game misconduct for charging. They did respond, however, as the two teams ended the second period by matching to each other’s goals to enter the third with Bern 3-1 up.
The Lakers knew what was at stake in this game and it showed in the third period when they levelled it through two goals which Leonardo Genoni may possibly want back. A late burst through the middle of the ice by Jan Muršak, who played a one-two with his teammate before backhanding the puck home, denied the visitors from completing their comeback. A late powerplay and netminder pull gave Sam Hallam’s team a glorious chance which they failed to convert before eventually running out of time.
