- First win of the season for EV Zug
- 38 shots on Galbraith in the home net
- Klingberg and Martschini with a pair each
EV Zug got their 2021/22 Champions Hockey League campaign up and running with an emphatic victory against SønderjyskE Vojens in Denmark.
With both sides having lost on Game Day 1, getting points on the board was a must, and the Swiss wasted no time in racking up a lead.
Carl Klingberg opened the scoring with just 6:30 played, with Lino Martschini adding the team's second just over 90 seconds later. By the time Reto Suri and Jan Kovář had each found the net, EVZ were four up in just over 18 minutes.
Period two didn't bring any let up from the visitors, who were five ahead thanks to a fine backhanded effort from Suri just past the 30-minute mark. After Jérôme Bachofner made it six some four minutes later, the impressive Klingberg added his second of the game shortly before the break to put EVZ 7-0 up.
Sven Senteler scored Zug’s eighth of the night early in the final period, with Samuel Kreis making it nine with 8:54 still to play.
Double figures were reached with 21 seconds to play through Dario Allenspach, capping off a great night for the Swiss, and one to forget for SønderjyskE.
