- Yunost remain unbeaten at home in the CHL
- Alexander Kogalev with a pair of goals
- Redhawks outshot their opponents 38-20
Yunost produced a stunning opening 40 minutes to avenge last week's defeat in Malmö with a 6-2 win over the Redhawks in Minsk.
After a poor opening period last week in Sweden, Yunost were out of the blocks like a shot in their own arena. Goals from Eduard Grin (2:01), a rocket coming in at the back post, and a slightly more flukey one from Yegor Gainetdinov (4:34) had the hosts two up inside five minutes.
Just 37 seconds into the middle session the Continental Cup champions moved further ahead, Mikhail Stefanovich converting a fabulous one-timer giving the goalie no chance. Alexander Kogalev then put them four ahead with 1:29 left on the period to give the Redhawks a huge final 20 minute mountain to climb.
A goal 35 seconds into the final period from Konstantin Komarek gave the visitors some hope, however Yunost had other ideas. Goals from Alexander Kulakov and a second from Kogalev had the hosts 6-1 up before Malte Setkov added a late consolation for the visitors.
